Ingredients You’ll Need

Chocolate

I typically use semi-sweet chocolate, but you can choose to use milk or dark chocolate if you prefer.

Coconut Oil (Refined)

This type of oil is solid at room temperature, which is what helps create the “magic” part of the magic shell. Make sure you are using refined coconut oil — this means that it will have a neutral taste and smell and not add a coconut flavor on the final product.

Total Time 5 minutes
Course Dessert
Yield 2 servings

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup (45 g) semi-sweet chocolate
  • 2 tsp (9 g) refined coconut oil

Instructions

  • Melt coconut oil.
  • Add chocolate and stir until smooth. You may need to microwave in short bursts, stirring well in between, to get the chocolate to fully melt into the oil.
  • Allow to cool slightly.
  • Pour over ice cream and enjoy.

Notes

Refined Coconut Oil – you’ll want to use refined coconut oil because it has a neutral taste so it won’t make the final topping taste like coconut.
Measuring – the coconut oil is measured while it’s solid, not liquid.
Chocolate – You can use milk chocolate or dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet if you prefer.
Consistency – If you’d like a thinner topping, increase the coconut oil by 1 tsp, for a total of 3 teaspoons.
